Our House For Sale

We've lived in Ormsaigbeg, first at the Ferry Stores, then in this house, for over 21 years and now feel it is time for us to move on. We have loved living on West Ardnamurchan, so the decision to leave was a very difficult one, taken only after long and careful thought.

Matenderere is therefore now on the market. It's in the hands of estate agent Jennifer Forsyth at MacArthur Stewart in Fort William - property details here - and is described on a blog page here.

  1. Jon, So sad to read this. You Gill and family have been very much part of our Community since you came to live here and have done so much for us. West Ardnamurchan will be a lot poorer without you guys! Wish you well with your next adventure. May and family.

  6. You have been one of my connections to Scotland, having visited there a few years ago. I love Scotland and hope you will still continue your blog perhaps from a different location. I am surprised that you have decided to sell. It is a beautiful home and a beautiful location. I wish I could make it mine. I'm sure the decision was difficult, to say the least, but I hope you find what you're looking for and look forward to posts from your next chapter. Best Wishes, Ranee (MN) USA

I have enjoyed my daily fix of the Kilchoan Blog for some years, particularly since the long journey north has been too much for me.

  17. Hello Jon. Your diary has always had the power to brighten up lives and sharpen our spirits - for that I offer my heartfelt thanks, too. Opening your blog each day has become compulsive. I wish you and your family well in your future endeavours and a smooth exit as you leave the house and, perhaps, the surrounding beauty of Ardnamurchan. Richard Austen.

  22. Wow, I've only just seen this. Thank you so much for all the hard work you've put into the blog. If there was someone that did as much as you in showing the wonders of nature and the local community, everywhere, the world would be a better place! I'm the same as many and rely on this to keep me from missing the area too much between my yearly visits. I wish you all the best with your new adventures.

  27. Jon, what a shock ! Picked up the news via Jim in the Post Office yesterday. It is with a heavy heart that I type this. In my eyes you have made yourself the hub of the community and reference point for all things Arnamurchan. I visit your blog nearly every day of the year and will very much miss your encyclopaedic knowledge of the area, the botany, the geology, the wildlife, the archaeology, the history, ....(I could go on and on) that you have built up over those 21 years. (not to mention your photography which is pretty dammed good too!!) Without your observations, excursions, news and comment I will no longer feel part of the community - despite living in Poole, Dorset. I sincerely hope that all is well with you and your family and wish you all the best for the next chapter in your undoubtedly interesting life.
