It looks a bit like a whoopie cake, or an Oreo biscuit, or some sort of small chocolate meringue - definitely something edible - but this is a fungus which we spotted to the north of Sanna the other day. It's tiny, the size of a 20p piece, and was growing all by itself on a steep, grassy, east-facing bank.
I spent half-an-hour on the internet trying to identify it and finally found something close using the Fungi World site - link here. It's Lycoperdon echinatum, the spiny puffball, but the ones in the pictures seem to be woodland species, and none of the Lycoperdon species on Google had the richly-coloured brown exterior or the white, sugary filling.
