Winter Moth

This little moth was at our front door last night asking to come in.  We find moths in odd places at this time of year, like in the toolshed, where they've found a dry and reasonably warm place to over-winter, but to have one flying around on the 3rd December is very unusual.

It is a reflection on how warm November has been.  The lowest temperature was early in the month, with a minimum of 3C on the 5th, but most days have seen maxima over 10C, with six days registering over 14C, and one over 15C; and most nights haven't dropped below 7C or 8C.  By comparison, November 2013 saw a minimum of -2C and only one day with the maximum over 10C.
