Spider with Red Lumps

This photograph of a minimalist spider was sent in by Kilchoan Early Bird with the observation that it has at least two red lumps on its legs.  It's difficult to pick them out in detail, but the lower one looks very like a spider mite hitch-hiking a lift on the spider.

Has anyone any idea what's going on here?
