Reacclimatising

We went to Sanna this afternoon for our first walk since returning to the peninsula.  It was typical October weather, with a brisk southwesterly wind bringing in sharp rain showers from the Atlantic, separated by bright, sunny intervals with their October trademark rainbows.  This is wonderful weather for photography, as the air is crystal clear.

It was good to see that work is well under way on Tigh Peigi, the house near the car park which suffered a serious fire back in February - report here.  The house was built to incorporate an old croft house, as described here.

We started by climbing the three hills to the northwest of the village which have cairns at their summits, pausing at each to add another stone and stand for a few minutes, enjoying the view.

Then we walked the length of the Sanna beaches, meeting only a handful of people, most exercising their dogs.  There's seaweed washed up along the high-tide line all along the shore, evidence of the strong winds that hit the area while we were away.

We returned to the car exhausted.  We've done plenty of walking while we've been away, most of it barefoot along rather warmer beaches, so we're reasonably fit.  It was less the distance than the lungfulls of pure, heady air that wore us out.

  1. Great photos! pointed this it to you before but the house currently being rebuilt after being damaged in the fire earlier this year is actually called Tigh Rois, not Tigh Peigi. Other than that another wonderful entry!
