Mystery Crustacean

Kilchoan Early Bird caught this crustacean this morning.
Has anyone any idea what it is?

The creature seems to be a marine isopod. It is similar shape to an Arctic marine isopod, Arcturus Baffini. It is on the Canadian Museum of Nature website. Another one is Astacilla Longicornis, which is more likely, as it is found in the north-east Atlantic.

Looks like an Arcturid Isopod of some kind, closest match might be Neastacilla Monoseta; perhaps its Scottish cousin.

  4. Many thanks for the identifications and the links. It does look like one of the Arctic isopods, though it's difficult to see which one.
