A Glorious Afternoon

With the fine, warm weather continuing into the afternoon and the forecast for tomorrow pretty dismal, we took to the hills behind the house, walking up to the summit of Druim na Gearr Leacainn, stopping several times - the climb is steep - to look back across the village and the bay to the entrance to Loch Sunart.

On the north side, the ridge drops off almost perpendicularly into a deep glacial hollow in which lie the 'twin lochans'. In the warm sunshine we sat and looked across the magnificent, rugged scenery of the heart of Ardnamurchan towards Skye and Eigg.

We were just commenting on the complete silence, on there being not a bird, animal or insect to disturb the scene, not a sound, when....

.... the RAF arrived.
