An update on progress from Gael Cameron:
The boys did extremely well yesterday and were making good time. On the final section they had a significant ascent, 292m over Conic Hill near Balmaha. Snow on the hill was a foot deep in places and it was a steep decent. They took this route unaware that there was a low level alternative. It was a tough hike which took its toll on tired knees and sore feet, so they were relieved to reach camp where Hughie had almost all the tents up and tea on the go.
They were in good spirits this morning despite an extremely cold night with ice forming inside their tents.
Walking to Inverarnan today. First 7 miles took them to Rowardennen where they met with Hughie and had their packed lunch. They then headed round the east side of Loch Lomond on the next 7 mile stretch to Inversnaid where they planned to stop for another break before doing the final 7 miles to Inverarnan. They are hoping the Drovers Inn has a welcoming fire on the go - not to mention a pint or two and an Irn Bru for Jordan.
