Deer Trespass

This is the path which leads from our back gate up across the croft land to the common grazings fence. It's an area which used to be extensively grazed by sheep but their numbers have dwindled over recent years so the native trees, mainly birch and rowan, have begun to regenerate.

However, the other day we found this sapling broken and with much of its bark stripped away. This, and the clear print of large deer hooves, made us realise that some of the increasing population of red deer on the Ormsaigbeg common grazings were now coming onto this land.

As a precaution, we've raised the height of the fence along the back of our vegetable garden in the hope that it will deter them from sampling our produce.
