This is a reminder that Kilchoan Sports Day is on Friday 23rd July and, if it's anything like last year, it'll be fantastic fun. Its proper name is West Ardnamurchan Show and Sports so, as well as children's races and the famous hill race, there'll be stalls, a bouncy castle, baking competitions, a pipe & drum band, tug-o-wars, junior and senior heavy events, stock judging and, of course, guaranteed fine weather. The stock events start at 9.30 and the main events at 1pm.The photo here is also a reminder that there are Vintage Photographs of West Ardnamurchan on show in the Community Centre and on the web (here). We'd like you to look at them and help us to identify missing facts. For example, with this one we know it shows Mr Andrew MacDonald of Ardgour judging the shearing at a Kilchoan Show, that the man shearing the sheep is John Neil Henderson from Swordle farm and that Sports Day, that year, was on the 25th July - but we don't know the year!
I'm very grateful to Sue Cameron for pointing out that the man shearing the sheep is John Neil Henderson, not Iain. The photo has difficult-to-decipher writing on the back. Sue thinks that the photo dates from about 1969/70.
