A Bird in the Hand

From Alasdair Thornton:
Hearing a strange noise in the house, I eventually tracked it down to the wood burning stove, thankfully not in use during the warm weather.

Inside I found a juvenile starling waiting patiently to be released.

I'm pretty sure the same bird had been one of a pair found to have used the chimney to get into the house earlier in the week.

Sure enough, after some high pitched squealing, it was reunited with its partner which was waiting patiently on the edge of the lawn.

Given their escapades I’d like to name them Sooty and Sweep.

Many thanks to Alasdair for the story and Chris Masterton for the pictures.
