Empty Roads

The roads through the village this morning were unnaturally quiet, perhaps because the entrance to the village was blocked (see earlier post), so walking them was more than usually pleasant, though clouds and the continuing stiff southeasterly kept the temperature down.

The roads have taken another pounding this summer, with potholes appearing everywhere and Highland Council able to do little of much use to repair them. As an example of what the roads are carrying, the truck that became stuck was reported to weight some 27 tons.

By afternoon the sun had come out and the temperature rose accordingly. On the hebe, at right, in the garden of one of the abandoned croft houses in Ormsaigbeg....

....a pair of red admirals were enjoying the flowers, and another pair were on the escallonia in our front garden.
