A commitment in Oban yesterday required an early start to catch the 8am ferry at Corran. It's a nervous job driving at that time, in the half-light. Sheep enjoying the warmth of the road are reluctant to move. The red deer have a habit of dashing across in front of the car. I was in a hurry but the sunrise over Loch Mudle caused me to stop, turn the engine off, and step out of the car. The air was damp, heavy. Points of sound cut the silence. I wanted to leave the car, walk away from it, find a vantage point from which to sit and watch the sun come up; and then walk, walk, walk for the rest of the day.
