What a Difference....

What a difference a day makes! After three days of rain, totalling some 50mm, late yesterday afternoon the clouds blew away and the sun smiled, just in time for a small rally of Morgan sports cars to arrive at Trevor Potts' Ardnamurchan Campsite.

Today dawned misty and still, perfect weather for one of Kilchoan fishermen to be out tending his creels, while....

....in the croft fields some of the finer sheep have turned orange, a sure sign that Friday is Sports Day, which includes stock judging in the morning.

The day turned increasingly hot and humid, not ideal weather for those members of Ardnamurchan History and Heritage Association who spent the morning clearing brambles and bracken from around the remains of a structure at Camas nan Geall. This is the site before work started....

....and this is the cleared site which, when one starts to look closely, begins to reveal....

....a rectangular building with thick stone walls and rounded corners. Many thanks to Elaine, Andy and Dave for their efforts. Members will return to draw a plan of the structure which is estimated to be at least 250 years old.

For anyone interested in the 6,000-year history and archaeology of Camas nan Geall, there's a guided walk tomorrow morning - meet at the car park above the bay at 10.30. Details here.

Many thanks to our lookouts in Kilchoan for drawing attention to the Morgan rally.
