Ormsaigbeg Croft Houses

The wind moved round into the northwest during last night, bringing sunny intervals and heavy hail showers.  This is 'Ardmore View', named for the headland on the opposite side of the Sound where there is a navigation light.

Another of the croft houses along the Ormsaigbeg road is 'Port Beag', picture showing it with Maol Bhidhe in the distance.

'Lag na Lion' croft house is towards the top of the road, the slope behind it rising towards the ridge that runs the length of Ormsaigbeg, Druim na Gearr Leacainn.

Most of these were built around the middle of the 19th century, after the original clachan of Ormsaigbeg was cleared.  They were single-storey to begin with, and have been extended since.
