Kilchoan Early Bird has sent in these pictures of local moths. The Diary is very ignorant when it comes to moths, and identification seems an almost insuperable task when one reads that there are something like 2,400 species of moth in the UK, but a search, particularly in the British Moths site
here, shows how wonderful the internet can be. This looks like a light emerald.
The distinctive colour of the emerald moths make them relatively easy to identify. This pale brown one is rather more difficult, but it may be a riband wave moth, which seems to come in a variety of shades.
