This Summer's Events

Kilchoan FC v Coll FC, Saturday 13th July.  To quote from the team's Facebook page, "It's the big one, the one you've all been waiting for, the biggest game of the season! Kilchoan FC welcome our island neighbours and fierce rivals to our home turf on Saturday 13th July with a 12.00 kick off. With the games being tied at two wins a piece over the last four years, this will be the biggest game between the sides to date with the bragging rights for the next year up for grabs! Come along and support your team - its bound to be a thriller."

The Ardnamurchan Transitions Team, the archaeologists who have been working at Swordle for the last seven years, are here between the 21st July and 3rd August, and will be running a range of public events including
- an Open Day on Sunday 28th July
- a talk on the team's work on Monday 29th July at 8.00pm in the Kilchoan Community Centre.

West Ardnamurchan Show & Sports, Friday 19th July. Stock judging takes place in the morning, followed by races at 11am and barbeque afterwards. A great day for all the family.  Events here, and entry form for competitions here.

Annual Pram Race, Friday July 26th, details here.  Entry forms from the Kilchoan Hotel or from kilchoanpramrace@hotmail.co.uk

Kilchoan Regatta is on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd August, with sailing races taking place on the Thursday and the main events on the Friday. Open to all, races include rowing, kayaking, power boats, and a raft race. Caleidh follows on the Friday evening.

Perhaps this is a good moment for those of us who so thoroughly enjoy the summer's events to remind ourselves that a huge amount of hard, and sometimes not very pleasant work goes in to preparing for them.  Picture, taken yesterday, shows two good men repairing the water pipe that goes down to the Regatta race secretary's office.
