Comet PANSTARRS Arrives

Photos of the comet PANSTARRS are beginning to appear on the internet - this one is on Flickr, taken by Chris Samuel who lives in Australia - but until now it has only been visible in the southern hemisphere.  Within the next few days we will be able to see it - look for the comet in the west just after sunset, where a new moon will also be visible.

The weather forecast for West Ardnamurchan is mixed but we might, just might be lucky tonight or tomorrow.

  1. If anywhere in the UK is going to see Comet Panstarrs over the next few days it will be on the western fringes, so you might be in luck, Jon. The BBC says to find it, first look at the Moon, then go down a bit, then left. In about a fortnight Panstarrs will be joined in the Northern Hemisphere by Comet Lemmon, which will be just about visible to the naked eye, and is green.

  2. Many thanks for this. Sadly, it's cloudy at the moment, but we live in hope... Jon
