A Bitter Southeaster

We've had a day blighted by a bitter southeaster which has been gusting up to Force 7, bringing with it alternations of snowflakes and a thin drizzle.  Since the still-air temperature has struggled to reach 3C, it's been miserable outdoors.

There's been widespread ferry disruption, with CalMac reporting problems on twenty-two routes, including Lochaline-Fishnish, Oban-Castlebay and Oban-Craignure, but our little ferry has dutifully carried out its schedule - this picture shows the 11.00am sailing from Tobermory - despite the wind direction bringing waves straight in to both Tobermory and Kilchoan slipways.

The siskins have had to hang on grimly to stay on the nut feeders in front of our house, while....

....the shelduck on Lochan na Nal by the Ferry Stores have been keeping to the lee of the shore....

....an idea adopted by both of Nan MacLachlan's new lambs, who have taken refuge in the lee of their mothers....

....while Hughie's pigs have spent the day tucked up in conjugal bliss.
