Picture of the Day

A butterfly settles on the slope of Druim na Gearr Leacainn
But what is it?

  1. The Butterfly is a Magpie Moth, a common daytime moth around here, there are lots of them on the hill beyond Ormsaigbeg. They are quite casual and will let you approach them, and if you touch them when they are at rest on a sprig of heather they play dead by flopping upside down on the twig to hopefully make the attacker loose interest.
