Yesterday's Storm

This image, of waves breaking over the CalMac pier (many thanks to Anne Jackson for the picture), gives some idea of the size of yesterday's storm waves. But the storm didn't behave as forecast, the highest winds on this side of the peninsula coming around 3pm, with gusts up to 99kph (60mph), not between 11pm and 1am. Nor was there much rain, the reading in our garden being 13mm.

CalMac ferries locally were cancelled yesterday, and some have been cancelled today, but we saw the Isle of Mull, which is usually on the Craignure-Oban route, passing northwards at 8.30 this morning, and wondered why she was being moved.

  1. It's best to be safe than sorry, so canceling those ferry trips was for the best. It's good that there wasn't much rain either. The water damage can be really bothersome in times like that.
