WACC is now in receipt of a lengthy reply from Tracy Ligema of NHS Highland to its letter of 10th December. Although Ms Ligema confirms that "....no date has been set for ending the community nurses' on-call commitment", her letter has infuriated members of WACC and the broader community, among other things in its failure to offer any form of apology for the gross mismanagement of the 'engagement' that should have taken place with the community. This is exactly what we could do without at a time we were hoping to engage in constructive discussions with both the NHS and the Scottish Ambulance Service. Her two letters are available in the right-hand column for download.
Meanwhile, Dr Michael Foxley, one of our local Councillors who is working hard to find a way forward in this dispute, has assured us that a full apology will be forthcoming from a much more senior official at NHS Highland. We are also pleased to read on the front page of today's Oban Times his assurance that our nurses will remain in place while talks take place in "a process which could take up to a year."
Wow handbags at 20 paces! "much more senior official" !
