Just before dawn yesterday, and a fisherman rows in to the slipway in Kilchoan Bay having checked the moorings on his boat.

The weather yesterday was beautiful, almost a Spring day, yet the clear skies have had consequences: over the last few days the roads have been lethal in places. There have been accidents caused by black ice along the peninsula and around Fort William, particularly along the Mallaig road, and one in Kilchoan itself.
